Domingo Cerrado

Yesterday was Sunday, and thus, absolutely nothing was open whatsoever. We had been told that the centro comercial was open on Sundays, though, so we gave it shot. After taking the twenty-minute trek there, we were pretty disappointed. The mall itself was open, but nothing inside was open except for some of the food court. IKEA was closed as well. Slumping, we decided to go back and just hang out at Kayla's apartment and plan some trip or something.

We decided on Sevilla & Cordoba for the last weekend in february after someone found a cheap flight there.
I just realized that most the next five months are already planned! It makes me feel like my time here is going to completely fly.
  1. This weekend: Nighthawk is coming to visit
  2. 3rd weekend in February: Erasmus trip to Granada
  3. Last weekend in February: our trip to Sevilla & Cordoba
  4. 1st week in March: Ricky visits me
  5. 2nd week in March: actually still free
  6. 3rd week in March: Devin visits and we go to Valencia for Las Fallas festival
  7. Last week in March: my parents come to visit
  8. 1st week in April: traveling with my parents (Spring Break/Semana Santa)
  9. 2nd week in April: traveling with my parents (Spring Break/Semana Santa)
  10. 3rd week in April: free
  11. last week in April: free
  12. All of May through June 11: studying for and taking final exams
  13. June 12-29th: free...Erica visits at some point
  14. June 30th: fly home to USA
This is good for me because I will always have something to look forward to, and hopefully, I won't have time to feel homesick ;)

Left was a super-doughy crescent roll with cheese & ham inside.
Right: York y Queso

Around 5 o'clock, Kayla, Natalia, Jenn and I went on a café-search. We wanted a place to eat a pastry, and sit and chill like the Spaniards do. I got some postres and a yummy café con leche (cafe au lait). Then we went to church at the Cathedral. On the way there, we walked through a little carnival going on in one of the plazas.

Just a random, cool door

When we got to the Cathedral, I wandered around and took lots of pictures. The service was pretty boring and about half an hour. It was followed by a long talk between my non-denominational friends and me. It certainly gave me a lot to think about!

  1. As always, I thoroughly enjoy your blog, Alyssa! I get to reminisce about my previous travels to Espana, and I get to live vicariously. I must say that you are providing excellent post-op entertainment for which I am most grateful!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visits to both Sevilla and Cordoba. Of course, I did the 'fly by' tourist experience, which is seriously lacking. The Moorish influence is quite interesting.

What will you do when your folks go in March? (As I recall, you have things lined up for them to buy for you! LOL! I love that!) I am excited...and jealous! Enjoy you time in Spain, honey!

Thank you so much for sharing! Love the pictures, especially the food! My favorite meal EVER was salt-encrusted fish from Ronda, west of Malaga. I remember it fondly. For me, it really is mostly about the food. And the shopping. :)
